Frequently Asked Questions

THERE WILL BE A RULES MEETING PRIOR TO THE TOURNAMENT

All athletes, coaches and parents are strongly advised to attend. Rules will also be posted on a rules page!

Everyone who makes the podium (first through third place) will be eligible to register for the open division. Only 2 athletes per team per division are eligible to enter.

Matches are scored based on IBJJF scoring without advantages! Take downs, sweeps, and knee on belly are 2 points. Mount and back are 4 points. In order to be awarded points, athletes must stabilize the position for 3 seconds. There are no points for reversals.

In the event of a tie there will be a 2 minute gold score round. First to score will be awarded the victory. If after 2 minutes no athlete is able to score, the referee will determine the winner based on the entire match including the golden score.

In No Gi the winners of the Intermediate and advanced open division will be awarded a belt. In the Gi, winners of the Blue, Purple, Brown and Black open division will also receive a belt.
